This beautiful planter of mixed flowers, including petunias, was hanging on a very southern style front porch on a pretty home in Southport, NC.
A quaint seaside town, Southport has many antique shops, locally owned restaurants and historic sites. It is reachable from Wilmington by both ferry and scenic highway. Originally named “Smithville”, this town was created by river pilots, fishermen and tradespeople. It grew up around North Carolina’s oldest fort, Fort Johnson, in 1754. Today it is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and has been ranked as one of the most desirable places in the United States to retire.

This photo was chosen for Macro Monday.
