This photo was captured on the south end of Wrightsville Beach in January.

Originally, I thought this was a sandpiper. However, after consulting several bird identification websites, he does not seem to fit the general description. Although I was amazed to find out how many different varieties of sandpipers there are in the world. This one was a fast runner, so it was hard to get him to slow down for a photograph.

  3. He’s gorgeous! Could he be a Dunlin? I’m in the UK, and well away from the coast, but from what I remember, they look very much like this here.

    It’s a beautiful photo though, whoever he is!
