Kingfisher Plane

The USS Battleship North Carolina, located on Eagle Island in the Cape Fear River across from downtown Wilmington  is  a National Historic Landmark. In excellent condition, and still retaining all of her World War II integrity, the ship is essentially the same as it was when the war ended. Pictured here on the deck is a restored Kingfisher plane, similar to the three original Kingfishers that were on the ship.

  1. I was in the Navy, but after WWII and Korea and served at a Naval Air Station so never “shipped” out and I love boarding these wonderful vessels and am always amazed at how large they are and how dangerous they seem.

    Great shot!
