This shot was chosen for Shadow Shot Sunday. It was taken at Wrightsville Beach, NC near Johnny Mercer’s Pier.
Hurricane fencing and stabilizing vegetation on the sand dunes, are the primary barrier protection against wind and erosion that keeps businesses and homes from going into the ocean. They secure our shores and will allow us to enjoy our beaches for years to come. In Wrightsville Beach, NC, if you are caught walking on, or destroying a sand dune in any way, there is a set fine to pay.
Shadow Shot Sunday is a cool idea for a meme that has folks posting photos of shadows, and then linking back to Hey Harriet’s blog so everyone can visit each others pictures. (And leave comments -it’s the polite thing to do!)

A lovely shadow shot. Interesting to learn that fines apply for the destruction of sand dunes. Fines should apply here also I think. Or maybe they do & I’m not aware. I’ll have to investigate. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
nice shadows, nice also to hear more about the fences and their uses…
What a good shot – and interesting about the protection of the dunes – that’s so good to hear.
The hurricane fence
stands placidly this morning—
no great storm warning.
